Minutes of Meeting # 54 | ‘Dream Job’

Meeting # 54 was held on 3rd of September, 2016. The theme of the meeting was “Dream Job”. The meeting started at 5:02 PM. President TM Mary Sharon called the meeting to order after the Sergeant at Arms TM Umar Muhktar gave a brief introduction. She then introduced the guests and accepted apologies presented by VP Education TM Saaniya Hashmi. The apologies were TM Taranjot Singh, TM Jonathon, TM Ali Inayat, TM M Rashid, TM Ali Sibtain, TM Naima, TM Aftab, TM Nadeen and TM Dr. Thuraya. The VP Education announced that there were no changes to the agenda. The motion to adopt the agenda was raised by TM Umar and seconded by TM Saaniya. The President then introduced the Grammarian (TM Ebrahim Abdulaziz), who introduced his role and the word of the day “Ambition”. President then introduced the Ah-Counter (TM Nauman Tairiq) and he explained his role too. Then, the president gave her Presidential Address.

The president then asked the Sub Secretary TM Hala Bucheeri to check if the quorum was complete to commence the Officers’ Reports and Business Session. TM Hala, after counting the present members, replied with “Yes, the quorum is complete.” Since the quorum was complete, the business session was conducted. DTM Khurram Salman spoke about the previous meeting’s minutes and raised the motion to adopt to the minutes of the previous meeting. It was seconded by TM Muhanna. DTM Khurram also reminded the members of the amendment that the Ah’s of members shall cost 25 fils per Ah starting after the member’s CC-P3. DTM Khurram then raised a motion to adopt this amendment. President TM Mary asked if there were any oppositions to the amendment and there were none as everyone was in favor. Moving on to the new business session, DTM Khuram gave a point of order that the founders of the club decided that there shall be a mentor-mentee document given to the new members to encourage a good relationship between them. The second point of order given by DTM Khurram was to request the members to share one agenda among every two members since some guests did not receive one, as the agendas printed were short in number. TM Fatima later pointed out that BEST got their Smedley award, which is the second club in Bahrain to receive it and the only club to receive it in the Area. TM Saaniya then announced that BEST is now considered a distinguished club as of yesterday, September 2nd, 2016. She also mentioned that it is the first distinguished club in Bahrain and second in the district. TM Jahangir raised the motion to close the business session while TM Umar seconded it. The President then introduced TM Fahd Naveed to conduct the ‘Know Your Members’ session in which he introduced TM Ebrahim. The President further then allowed the new-coming guests to introduce themselves.

The President introduced the Master of Ceremonies (TM Eman Abdullah). MC took control and introduced the Timer (TM Fatima Allawi) to give the Timing Criteria for all the speakers and evaluators. Then the Educational Session was held. MC introduced the individual Evaluator, TM Sawsan Hassan, of the first speaker, TM Umar Mukhtar, and gave out the objectives of her speaker. TM Umar gave a speech titled “The Ultimate Dream” as part of his CC-P3. The second evaluator, TM Saaniya Hashimi was introduced and so she read out the objectives of her speaker, TM Naila Abdulaziz, who gave a speech titled “Your Passion, Your Paycheck” as a part of her CC-P5. The third evaluator, TM Tabish Shoaib read out the objectives of his speaker, TM Mary Sharon who gave the speech titled “Who Are You?” as her ACB-P3. The fourth evaluator, TM Tanaji Omar, was introduced to read out the objectives of her speaker TM Jahangir Khan, who gave a speech titled “An Airport Visit” as his ACS-P8. And finally, the fifth evaluator, DTM Khurram Salman read out the objectives of his speaker, TM Namrata Nagendra, and gave her a speech topic as it was an impromptu speech. She titled the speech “Speaking Off The Cuff!” as a part of her ACG-P7.

After the prepared speech session, a five minute break was held.

The Table Topic Session was held after the break and the Table Topics Master was TM Daij Al Khalifa. The speakers were TM Muhanna, DTM Khurram Salman, Guest Roman and Guest Ali. The Fun & Learn session was held by TM Hala Bucheeri with the help of TM Jahangir Khan. The activity conducted was “BEST’s Got Talent”. The gold trophy winner was TM Mohammed Suleiman while the silver trophy winners were TM Saaniya Hashimi and TM Umar Muhktar. The control was then given back to the MC.

The MC then introduced the General Evaluator, TM Roya Adel, to give her valuable evaluation and suggestions on the overall meeting. She then asked for the role players’ report. Before starting the Evaluators’ speeches, TM Mary Sharon raised a privilege motion for TM Tabish Shoaib to give his evaluation second instead of third. It was seconded by TM Mohammed Suleiman. The evaluation speeches were given as follows, by TM Tanaji, then by TM Tabish, followed by TM Sawsan, TM Saaniya and finally by DTM Khurram. The control was then handed back to MC who called upon the President to present the Halfway to Competent Communicator Ribbon to TM Naila Abdulaziz for her completion of 5 CC Projects. The MC then presented the rest of the awards.

Best Table Topic: DTM Khurram Salman and Guest Roman

Best Evaluator: DTM Khurram Salman

Best Speaker: TM Namrata Nagendra

President then congratulated the role players who took a role for the first time and gave the details for the next meeting that will be held on the 17th of September, 2016. She also gave her closing remarks and adjourned the meeting at 7:25 pm.
